How to Reach the Karlsruhe Research Centre at Leopoldshafen by Public Transport

Tram lines S 1 / S 11 from Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof (Main Railway Station)  destination Leopoldshafen/Hochstetten.

• Trams operate in 20-minute intervals; travelling time is approx. 40 minutes.
• At the "Leopoldstraße" stop, change to
• bus No. 195 as far as "Forschungszentrum-Südtor" (south entrance of the Forschungszentrum)*.

Regional train R 2 from Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) to the destinations of Blankenloch Station/Mannheim.

• Trains operate in hourly; travelling time is 25 minutes.
• At Blankenloch Station, change to
• bus No. 195 to "Forschungszentrum-Südtor" (south entrance of the Forschungszentrum)* (only until 8:35 am).

Tram line S 2 from Karlsruhe Centre (Kaiserstrasse) via Durlacher Tor in the direction of Blankenloch Nord.

• Trams operate in 20-minute intervals; travelling time is 36 minutes.
• At the "Blankenloch Nord" stop, change to
• bus No. 195 as far as "Forschungszentrum-Südtor" (south entrance of the Forschungszentrum)* (frequently until 8:37 am, then, at 12:31, 13:31, 14:31, 15:23 ).

Tram lines S 4 / S 5 from Karlsruhe Durlach Railway Station, direction Durlacher Tor - Karlsruhe.

• Trams operate in 10 minute intervals; travelling time is approx. 35 minutes.
• At the "Durlacher Tor" stop, change to
• tram S 2 in the direction of Stutensee- Blankenloch as far as "Blankenloch Nord," then change to
• bus No. 195 as far as "Forschungszentrum-Südtor" (south entrance of the Forschungszentrum)* (until 8:37 am, then, at 12:31, 13:31, 14:31, 15:23).

* The building of the "Fortbildungszentrum für Technik und Umwelt" (Centre for Advanced Technological and Environmental Training, FTU) is located, across the road, opposite of the "Forschungszentrum-Südtor" bus stop.

How to Reach the Karlsruhe Research Centre at Leopoldshafen by Car

Coming from Basel and Freiburg

• Leave the motorway at the Karlsruhe-Süd exit, direction Karlsruhe.
• After about 4 km, take the Landau (B 10) road.
• After another 4 km, turn off in the direction of Mannheim (B 36). This exit appears after a building very close to the road so can easily be missed.
• Carry on for about 10 km.
• Leave B 36 at the Bruchsal-Stutensee-Forschungszentrum exit.
• The entrance road to the Research Centre is after approx. 1 km on the left.

Coming from Munich and Stuttgart

• At the Karlsruhe Dreieck, take the direction Karlsruhe-Frankfurt.
• Leave the motorway at the Karlsruhe-Mitte exit, direction Landau (B10).
• Stay on this road for another 9 km and exit at the Mannheim (B36) exit. Attention: this area is checked by radar. Observe the 80 km/h speed limit. The exit can easily be missed, as it appears right after a building very close to the road.
• Stay on the B36 for 10 km.
• Follow the sign for Bruchsal-Stutensee-Forschungszentrum, the exit is on the right.
• The entrance road to the Research Centre is approx. 1 km away on the left.

Coming from Frankfurt and Heidelberg

• Leave the motorway at the Bruchsal-Karlsdorf exit and continue in the direction of Bruchsal (B35).
• After a few kilometers, you will reach the outskirts of the Bruchsal industrial park, turn right in the direction of Stutensee-Büchenau.
• At the next two roundabouts continue to follow Sutensee-Büchenau. Continue along the road and take the right turn signposted Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen-Forschungszentrum.
• The road leads under a railway line, in the direction of Leopoldshafen. The entrance to the Forschungszentrum is on the right.

Coming from Landau and Wörth

• Leave the motorway at the Knielingen exit and continue 3 km along the road ("Rheinbrückenstrasse"). At the crossroads with Neureuter Str. (after passing Siemens AG), take the left turn signposted Mannheim (B36)
• Carry straight on at all the traffic lights.
• After ca. 10 km, turn right at the Bruchsal-Stutensee-Forschungszentrum exit.
• The entrance road to the Research Centre is after approx. 1 km on the left.
